Northern Ireland unemployment rate the same as UK but well below both EU and ROI average


The Northern Ireland seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, as measured by the Labour Force Survey (LFS), was estimated at 8.0% for the period November 2010 - January 2011. This represented an increase from the rates of 7.6% and 6.3%, recorded in the previous quarter and year respectively. The latest NI rate equalled the UK rate (8.0%) for the same period, but remained below the European Union (9.6%) and Republic of Ireland (13.8%) rates for December 2010.
